Every person in our family enjoyed the relaxation of this unique setting but each one discovered rooms or areas that appealed especially to them. The well-stocked playroom was a popular place and large enough to accommodate train tracks from home. Grandpa practiced saxophone and piano on the stage, was joined by the more musically inclined and drew an audience away from the pool table. Grandma enjoyed reading in the flower garden but was lured away by the children on the pirate ship and in the pool. Sitting on the deck in perfect silence in early mornings was a treat. We found several family activities and restaurants within a short driving distance but time did not allow us to do everything we had planned. Two true highlights were the visit to a sheep farm across the road and the demonstration of the collection of symphonians and antique music boxes. This demonstration was given by our charming and hospitable hostess, Jenny, who adds her own special touches to make each visit unforgettable.
We have a family tradition of big Thanksgivings, with the extended family now having outgrown even the largest of our homes. Rather than break up the act, we have rented houses for the last couple of years. We are too big for last year’s rental but we found Karin’s Place. It had everything we needed – including beds for everyone. This house is amazing in so many different ways and is very well-equipped for a crowd – plenty of dishes, glassware, pots and pans, a commercial 6 burner stove top, two large ovens and two refrigerators, with enough counter space to cook up a storm and feed a small army. And great spaces, including a performance space, which we actually used for a performance. Because of the weather we didn’t spend much time outside, except for the kids, who loved the playground. The big kids loved the hot tub. Everybody had a great time and loved the house – and there were many conversations about coming here again for other occasions. And Jenny is fabulous! She is very accommodating and totally committed to making her guests comfortable and happy. Could not have asked for more!!
Our stay at Karin’s Place was extremely relaxing. Our room was spacious and our beds were comfortable. We had full access to the kitchen and other facilities in the house, and had plenty of space to unwind. The backyard is gorgeous and serene. We will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others who are looking for a tranquil, quiet place to stay that has all the comforts of home.
Our recent stay at Karin’s Place was absolutely incredible. Only a short drive from us, we felt like we were worlds away! The property is gorgeous and we had a great time relaxing in the swimming pool, on the deck and in all of the lounge spaces that the home provides. We came up for the annual Garlic Festival which was just a short drive away, and during our stay we also managed to go to some close-by attractions (i.e., Bennington Pottery, the Clark Museum, and Williams College). There are so many breathtaking views in Pownal, we can’t wait to go back when the leaves start to change!

Karin’s Place is the ideal environment for business retreats. Our company, AdaCore, had several gatherings at Karin’s place and we keep going back. The serenity of the surroundings combined with Karin’s Place modern amenities is conducive to relaxing and very productive brainstorming sessions. Karin’s Place has allowed us to focus on business issues outside of the hustle and bustle of the office. We love Karin’s Place and we hope other businesses will discoverits magic.
Our stay at Karin’s Place was memorable for so many good reasons. The location is quiet and on 26 beautiful acres in Pownal, VT. The property has a lovely heated pool, indoor hot-tub, beautiful garden, pool room and a gazebo, wonderful for reading, relaxing or talking with friends. Jenny, the proprietor was very friendly and welcoming during our stay. The beds were comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. With its sprawling mix of large common areas and private spaces, this would be a perfect place for a corporate retreat or a family reunion. There is even a grand piano, drop down screen and stage for musical performances or watching movies. The outdoor barbecue and fire-pit out back made for wonderful evening meals and gatherings. This is truly a special place with a lot to offer and we look forward to our next visit.
